Accessibility at the Victoria Conference Centre

At the Victoria Conference Centre (VCC), we are dedicated to providing an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment for all visitors. In partnership with the City of Victoria’s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and in commitment to Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC), we are continuously improving accessibility throughout our venue.

Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC)

The RHFAC is a national program that assesses and certifies the accessibility of buildings and public spaces. This framework guides our efforts to identify and remove barriers while enhancing inclusivity across our facility. VCC is proud to have achieved RHFAC Certification and is actively working toward RHFAC Gold Certification— as our commitment to meeting leading standards in accessibility.

Integration of RHFAC Standards

Our accessibility strategy aligns with the 12 RHFAC Rating Categories, which inform improvements in areas such as mobility, wayfinding, sensory inclusion, safety, and innovation.

Mind-Friendly Environments

As part of RHFAC’s Mind-Friendly Environments category, we’ve partnered with KultureCity to implement sensory-inclusive initiatives. These include designated quiet zones, sensory tools and accommodations, and staff training to better support neurodiverse visitors.

Wayfinding & Signage

To enhance navigation, we’ve installed clear and visible exterior signage that directs visitors to our accessible entrances—making it easier for all guests to find their way around.

Technology & Innovation

In support of RHFAC’s innovation goals, VCC has integrated the . This universally designed wayfinding tool helps all visitors—particularly those with visual, cognitive, or learning disabilities—navigate the facility independently and confidently.

Mobility & Built Environment

We continue to invest in improving barrier-free access, including accessible entrances and unobstructed interior pathways, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience throughout the venue.

Ongoing Commitment to Accessibility

By embedding RHFAC standards into our policies and operations, we ensure Victoria Conference Centre accessibility solutions are universally designed and provide meaningful access to over 100,000 people visiting the Victoria Conference Centre for conferences, meetings, and community events annually.
